The next American Idol

And the winner is...Kris Allen. This came as a shock to him as well as others.

He knocked Adam Lambert out of the top spot and became the next American Idol on season 8 of the popular TV reality show.

Kris (I like the way he spells his name.) was in disbelief when he found out he was the winner.

I'm sorry, I don't even know what to feel right now. This is crazy.

Both men did a really good job and are winners no matter what.

I didn't personally watch it this season, but have heard and read some stuff about it. I haven't watched it since Carrie Underwood won. That to me was a very special moment.

Good luck to both of these guys. They worked hard to get this far

A look at the winners of Fox's "American Idol" and Video

A look at the winners of Fox's "American Idol" and what they've been up to since taking home the prize:

_ Kelly Clarkson: The 27-year-old singer has released four albums since winning the first "Idol." Her name was immortalized in 2005 when Steve Carell screamed it out after getting his chest waxed in "The 40-Year-Old Virgin." Clarkson currently has two singles, "My Life Would Suck Without You" and "I Do Not Hook Up," on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

_ Ruben Studdard: The 30-year-old crooner has also released four albums since winning the second season, including the 2004 gospel record "I Need an Angel." He is currently starring as Fats Waller in a national tour of "Ain't Misbehavin'." Studdard's most recent album, "Love IS," dropped Tuesday and features a mix of romance-themed covers and original tunes.

_ Fantasia Barrino: The 24-year-old singer has released two albums, "Free Yourself" and "Fantasia." Barrino played herself in a 2006 Lifetime TV film based on her autobiography, "Life Is Not a Fairy Tale." She starred as Celie in the Broadway musical version of "The Color Purple" in 2007 and will reprise her role in a national tour later this year.

_ Carrie Underwood: The 26-year-old country crooner is arguably the singing competition's most successful winner, becoming a Grammy-winning, multi-platinum selling recording artist with her two albums, "Some Hearts" and "Carnival Rides." Underwood captured the entertainer of the year award at last month's Academy of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas.

_ Taylor Hicks: The 32-year-old Soul Patrol leader's first, self-titled album went platinum but never generated the acclaim or hype of winners like Clarkson or Underwood. He later went on to play Teen Angel in the Broadway and national touring casts of "Grease." Hicks released a second album in March under his own label after leaving Arista Records.

_ Jordin Sparks: The 19-year-old singer's self-titled first album debuted at No. 10 on Billboard. After winning the sixth season, Sparks performed the national anthem at Super Bowl XLII and defended the Jonas Brothers at last year's MTV Video Music Awards when host Russell Brand joked about their purity rings. She will release her second album in July.

_ David Cook: The 26-year-old rocker released his self-titled debut album in November and is currently touring the country. He dueted with Underwood on Fleetwood Mac's "Go Your Own Way" at the opening of an "Idol" attraction at Disney World. Cook's older brother, who famously cheered for him in the "Idol" audience, died from brain cancer earlier this month.

_ Kris Allen: The 23-year-old college student used his twangy voice and folksy charm to overpower 27-year-old theater actor Adam Lambert during the eighth season finale, despite the fact Lambert had been declared the frontrunner by the show's judges. Allen told reporters following his win backstage he wanted to make "pop singer-songwriter kinda" album.

American Idol Top 2 performance finale extravaganza video

Maybe it was the bright, sunshine-y day that basked the Nokia Theater in downtown Los Angeles with a warm, welcoming glow for yesterday's American Idol Top 2 performance finale extravaganza. Maybe it was the way Top 36-ers Casey Carlson, Kendall Beard, Kristen McNamara and Hollywood week washout Emily Wynne-Hughes all hugged each other outside the Nokia like they were the best of besties. Maybe it was the way the aforementioned foursome attracted a small mob of onlookers content to grab a photo and autograph from anyone involved with American Idol at all. Maybe it was the gaggle of well-dressed youngsters I saw happily packed like cattle just inside the Nokia's glass facade as they patiently waited to be transformed into Swaybots and herded to the lip of the Nokia's stage. Maybe it was the Idol swag being hocked both inside and out of the Nokia, including an Adam Lambert T-shirt with his first name in an '80s metal rock font and a Kris Allen T-shirt with his first name in a '70s disco boogie font. Or maybe it was the guy wearing the yellow T-shirt with "WHO'S YOUR MAMBA" in purple lettering, standing on some kind of raised platform smack in the middle of the massive lines of people waiting to get inside the Nokia, proselytizing at the top of his lungs not about the L.A. Lakers' impending playoff game next door at the Staples Center, but...wait for it...the Ten Commandments.

Whatever the reason, by the time I got to my seat way back in the wayback -- literally in the far right, rear corner of the indescribably massive Nokia Theater, so far away that wee Kris Allen was dwarfed by my outstretched pinkie -- I was in such a wide open-minded mood that even as I type this, I just can't get on the last-night's-performance-finale-was-a-serious-disappointment bandwagon. Yeah, "No Boundaries" was a melody-free, word-clogged blob of a song, but haven't we all come to expect our Idol finale songs to be uninterestingly bad? Sure, Adam and Kris were apparently forced to sing songs we'd heard from them before, but they still both managed to get me all with the goosebumples, and I don't think I've ever heard a better version of "Ain't No Sunshine" than Kris' last night. And, OK, "A Change is Gonna Come" and "What's Goin' On" aren't the hippest, most current songs in the pop music canon, but both our boys handled them with style to spare, and I daresay Lambert's achingly felt, blisteringly sung rendition of his Civil Rights Era classic was pretty damn interesting (not to mention quite moving) given all the buzz surrounding Adam's sexuality and recent advances in gay rights.

If it seems like I'm stalling from delivering unto you all the Idol on-the-scenery, you're not far wrong: You could've halved the distance of my eyeballs from the Nokia stage, and I still would have struggled to scrounge up my usual helping of scrumptious insider scoop. So with 25 minutes before air, I hopped on the nearest camel and trundled my way up to the front of the Nokia so I could at least scope out the scene among the lucky 56,000 or so stationed within the first mile of the stage. I may be exaggerating, but just a bit.

My first order of business, of course, was to walk to the edge of the stage to greet one Debbie the Stage Manager, back from her miraculously brief convalescence after falling from the top of the Idol Thunderdome at the CBS Television City two weeks before. Ever the trooper, Debbie proudly showed me the righteous scar on her leg, reported that she is indeed fine, with no permanent injury, and thanked me -- and, in turn, all of you -- for the kind words of support. Here's five more: She is one tough cookie.popwatch.From:ew.com/popwatch

Hollywood's Top 10 Earning Stars

While the other famous celebrities are busy making the headlines, the Olsen clans make more than just headlines, money. The twin sisters, Ashley Olsen and Mary-Kate Olsen, made reportedly an estimated $40 million during the year 2006, such amount enough to bring them to land the top spot of Forbes magazine's Hollywood's Top Earning Stars Under 21 list.

The Olsens, who don't turn 21 until June 13th later this year, have thus proven that not only they are good in acting but making money as well. Come in 2nd place on the list is young actor Daniel Radcliffe who earned an estimated $13 million last year for his lead role in "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix". Fresh from the rehab Lindsay Lohan is ranked 3rd made $6 million.

The American child actress Dakota Fanning lands the 4th spot, with $4 million at 13. Amanda Bynes who is now 20 closing the Top 5 with $2.5 million. The rest of the Top 10 on the list are Hayden Panettiere at 6th with $2.5 million, Vanessa Hudgens at the 7th spot, taking in $2 million, Abigail Breslin at No. 8 with $1.5 million, Tyler James Williams at No. 9 with $1.2 million, and JoJo at No. 10 with $1 million.

American Idol" wasn't going to be Allison Iraheta

"American Idol" (Fox) If it wasn't going to be Allison Iraheta, thank baby Seacrest it's also not going to be Danny Gokey doing that thing he calls dancing around Adam Lambert in "Idol's" season finale. Take that, producers who have been writing the Gokey/Lambert finale script for the past 10 weeks. And take that, Kara DioGuardi (and the rest of the judges, but mostly Kara because she's the worst) for blindly following that script, even when Danny mangled Aerosmith's "Dream On." An "A for effort" is not how we voters roll. Kris Allen (r.) deserves that top two spot, and he deserves all the free cheese dip at Stoby's he can shove into that rhombus-shaped mouth of his

Despite the Jolie-Pitt's best efforts

..2008, Angelina Jolie's enormous baby bump was the talk of Cannes thanks to Jack Black who, despite the Jolie-Pitt's best efforts, let slip that the actress was carrying twins: "You're gonna have as many as the Brady Bunch when you have these," he revealed...

...2003, Claudia Schiffer and her baby son Caspar narrowly escaped injury when the blue Range Rover in which they were passengers was involved in an accident. The £60,000 vehicle, which was being driven by Claudia's assistant and was also carrying her husband Matthew Vaughn and the family nanny, hit a white van which spun through 180 degrees before knocking down two bollards in a road near High Street Kensington, West London. No one was injured...

"Mr & Mrs Dr. Heinz Schiffer request the pleasure of your company at the marriage of their daughter Claudia to Mr Matthew Vaughn on Saturday 25th May 2002 at 5pm," read the traditional black-on-white card, which also included an invitation to brunch, a "Germany v England" football match and "other sporting activities" the following day.From:www.vogue.co.uk/news/fashion

A burglar alarm led police to Lindsay Lohan's

A burglar alarm led police to Lindsay Lohan's house on Tuesday, where officers found evidence of a potential break-in and ransacking.

Turns out, the mess belonged to Lohan, not the burglars, police said.

An alarm company notified police that someone tripped an alarm at the house around 3 p.m. in Hollywood. Police determined no one entered the home and nothing was stolen, but the mess inside the starlet's home prompted officers to ask, "Is it normally like this, or did the intruders do it?" said Los Angeles police Officer Karen Rayner.

Lohan was not at home at the time.

A message left with Lohan's publicist Leslie Sloane-Zelnik was not immediately returned Tuesday night. (AP)

Farrah Fawcett Cancer story

Farrah Fawcett, glamorous Hollywood actress and 1970s icon, was diagnosed with anal cancer in 2006. News reports are that she is now confronting death. Her struggle with this deadly disease will be shown on an NBC documentary, Farrah’s Story, this Friday night at 9:00 pm. The documentary was filmed over two years with Farrrah’s own video camera, with her friend Alana Stewart as the videographer. Read about it and see photos and and a video below.

I feel very much the interloper in attempting to write about Farrah and her personal nightmare. Well, not really personal … she did not have that luxury, but it’s the nightmare from hell none the less.

She and I are the same age. My hair was identical to hers back in the day of big hair, blue eyeshadow and real lips … untouched by collagen. While never a fan of hers, I was a big fan of Lee Majors and Ryan O’Neal, so whenever Farrah made news, I was always nosy enough to read about it. I gained respect for Farrah as an actress after she starred in the TV movie ‘The Burning Bed’, and she outdid herself in ‘Extremities’.

I’ve never been a celebrity follower. I don’t comprehend their lifestyles or thought processes, and frankly, there’s not enough room in my brain to be concerned or even really care about them. It’s only when there is an ‘in your face’ story that I occasionally sit up and pay attention. But why?

I understand that when someone signs on to be an entertainer that they automatically give up a lot of privacy that we, the fans, insist we keep for ourselves. I also think that the public, the fans … have crossed the line. We do not need to know every detail of a celebrity’s life …. for example Farrah’s cancer. The HIPAA laws were written for her, too. But did we care? Nope. Not one damn bit.

Ms. Fawcett pleaded for privacy, yet the National Enquirer allegedly paid Lawanda Jackson ( an administration assistant at UCLA Medical Center ) $4600.00 to dig up personal info on Ms. Fawcett and leak it to them. Ms. Jackson was charged with violating HIPAA laws and admitted guilt, but died of cancer last March before being sentenced. And the National Enquirer made a lot of money off of Farrah Fawcett’s hell.

It’s been alleged that Ms.Fawcett has spoken to the U.S. Attorney and the FBI regarding an investigation to see if the parent company of the National Enquirer, violated any laws by paying an employee of a hospital to leak out any patient confidential medical information. I really hope she has.

When Farrah was diagnosed with cancer in 2006, it hit a raw nerve with me. Cancer runs in my family; my Mother died from it at 52, it killed her sisters and my Aunts, at a young age also. I held 2 husbands in my arms as they took their last breath after fighting this very hard, very personal demon known as cancer. I have lost 7 seven friends to cancer and only know 2 survivors personally. My best friend of close to 40 years had pancreatic cancer 8 years ago … against all odds, she is still here. Another friend has survived serious melanoma. My little brother was diagnosed with stage 3 cancer last week. So, as you can tell, I am very familiar with this monster.

After all the experience I’ve had with being around and losing loved ones to cancer, I thought I would, and should be spared. After all, I had already survived one near fatal illness, and I’m a good person with a kind heart, blah, blah, so home free on the cancer crap, right? Nope. Almost a year ago, I was diagnosed with cancer myself. Unlike Farrah, though, I have been allowed my privacy … and perhaps why I feel so strongly about this. For those of you that thrive on the tabloids and need to know every little thing, I am going to give you a glimpse of what it’s like. First let me say that I don’t know what Farrah has been through personally, but I do know what it’s like to have surgery, chemo and radiation. Ready?

Cancer is hell on earth. From the moment of diagnosis, your life is no longer your own. Your are assigned a team of specialists, each with their own area of expertise in your type of cancer. You have family and friends and co-workers and bosses to tell …. or NOT. Many patients prefer privacy to sharing the sordid details.

At my age, I found myself surrounded by Doogie Howser’s, MD. and all his minions. Nurses my grand-daughters age are still looking after me. This is extremely difficult because at this age, you’re fairly sure you know everything you ever wanted to know about anything, and we all know young people really haven’t lived and learned yet. It’s very hard to trust doctors younger than your children. There’s an awkward period of adjustment.

Your routine is established with no wiggle room. While many advancements have been made in chemotherapy, each person is treated differently. The better your health going in, the better your chance at minimal side effects … most of the time.

There is nothing glamorous about vomiting non stop, having all your long, thick hair falling out, losing your eyebrows, eyelashes. Sometimes your teeth become weak and break, your vision drastically impaired. My fingernails separated from the quick, became hard and brittle and I’m losing them. It’s very painful to touch anything … even to type. My hands and feet blistered so bad from the chemo that skin fell off in chunks, and I still cannot wear socks or shoes. My children suffered as I begged for death and pleaded for a knife to kill myself with. The pain was so bad I just wanted to cut it out of me. My daughter wept as I crawled upstairs, unable to stand, or walk from the weakness. My doctors have said they did not expect me to complete chemo. Does anyone feel better knowing Farrah may have gone through the same thing, or even worse? Does it matter that perhaps one minute she may have been teeth chattering cold, unable to feel warmth, and the next … drenched in stinking sweat … needing a complete change of bed clothes and bedding?

Our looks change. Our eyes become sunken in, cheekbones hollow. We scare little children with our appearance. What do you say to a 5 year old when they ask about your hair? If you say you’re sick and it fell out, then that child is left worrying every time they sneeze.

Most people, adults and children, tend to stare at those in wheelchairs. What are we supposed to say to make you more at ease? What is it that any of you need to hear from someone that is suddenly ‘different’ to make you more at ease …. and is that my job? Is it Farrah’s because she dared to become famous and she ‘owes us’?

Most people try to protect their privacy, and when someone you don’t want knowing your health business finds out, you have a tendency to want to rip off their arms and beat them over the head with them when they grab and hug you … wishing you well …. because you know for a fact they are hypocritical. I would imagine this to be specially true of people in Farrah Fawcetts’ position.

It’s one thing to be nosy about what someone is wearing, or who they are dating. It’s quite another to need to know the gruesome details of their personal suffering … and the process of dying …

Is it because the celebrities have so much, and we don’t, that makes us feel entitled to violate their personal space? What if the homeless wino on the street found out about you … and put your business out there for all to see, because after all, you have more than they?

I applaud Farrah’s decision to go ahead and make her ordeal public after being left with no choice, but I condemn the public at large for forcing this decision on her. There’s so much grief and anxiety for everyone touched by cancer … she should have been able to fight this major battle her way, not yours, or mine.

I hope none of you ever has to deal with losing someone to this disease, but if you do, and you’re one of those that liken the tabloids to the Bible, I hope then you will realize that depriving Farrah Fawcett of her right to dignity, to privacy, was very, very wrong.

Perhaps we should all re-aquaint ourselves with the word mercy, and then show it next time we want to invade someone’s life and death.

Farrah’s Story, the documentary dedicated to documenting Farrah Fawcett confronting death from anal cancer that has now spread to her live, will air on NBC Friday, May 15, 2009 at 9:00 pm.

'Twilight' sequel 'New Moon' in a trash container in St. Louis

A beauty salon owner found a script for the highly anticipated 'Twilight' sequel 'New Moon' in a trash container in St. Louis!

Casey Ray, found two scripts one for 'New Moon,' and one for another movie 'Remember Me' in the trash outside of a St. Louis hotel.

Actors shooting George Clooney's new movie 'Up in The Air' were staying at the hotel including actress Anna Kendrick, who plays Jessica in the 'Twilight' films, the Associated Press says.

A spokeswoman for Kendrick tells the AP that she wouldn't have left the scripts lying around.

Ray first considered taking the scripts to a tabloid, but instead decided to return them to Summit Entertainment, the studio shooting the films.

In return she was invited to attend the movies' premieres, Ray's attorney Al Watkins tells the AP.

"Summit doesn't comment on any of the deals it does," Summit spokesman Paul Pflug tells ET. "We thank Ms. Ray for doing the right thing."From:www.etonline.com

American Idol winner :Simon Cowell crowns Adam Lambert

CHICAGO -- "American Idol" judge Simon Cowell says he thinks Adam Lambert will win this season of the popular singing competition show.

Cowell told Oprah Winfrey on Monday's episode of "The Oprah Winfrey Show" that his money is on Lambert because the contestant is fearless, unique and "he's got swagger."

Winfrey also featured Scottish singing sensation Susan Boyle, who is competing on "Britain's Got Talent." Boyle told Winfrey she's "loving every second" of her newfound fame.

The 47-year-old Boyle became famous after she shocked judges and the audience with her version of "I Dreamed a Dream" from the musical "Les Miserables."

One of those judges was Cowell, who wished Boyle congratulations and wished her "best of luck" on the rest of the competition.From:www.kentucky.com

I advise all students:Susan Boyle

I advise all students in Malta to have a look at the manner in which Susan Boyle and Paul Potts hit their examiners and those who judged them prematurely, on Britain Has Talent.

Initially, completely and totally misjudged and underestimated in their true value, by three internationally acclaimed examiners, and a few hundred judges in the audience, they were even sneered at.

In the case of Susan Boyle, Judge Number 1 sniggered when she announced the nature of her song. Judge Number 2's facial expressions and head turning said it all, while Judge Number 3 cleared her throat, shook her head and distorted her lips, and three women in the audience showed their disapproval by creasing their faces in a demeaning fashion, intended to lower and ridicule the competitor's dignity.

Armed with a smile and perfect composure, just five seconds into her singing, this gentle woman gave all those present in the hall a big surprise by showing her inner feelings through the right choice of her song, "I dreamed a dream". Rather appropriately from Les Miserables as she must have known and felt that all the people present were going to make her feel miserable. That lady certainly knew herself and her audience!

Just a few seconds into her first notes, she indicated the purity of her voice and the potential for the highest crescendos, hence the immediate stunning effect on all those present.

One judge just stared and raised his eyebrows, the lady judge lowered her jaw in amazement, while the third judge's face showed that he was beginning to hate himself for his cruel snigger and he was so stunned and internally apologetic that a sharp eye would have detected his tears.

So moved were the audience, after cruelly misjudging and silently ridiculing her, that to make up for it all, and yet keep their dignity, they all stood up to honour her in a moving standing ovation, which she truly deserved. They all clapped as hard as ever; when in actual fact they felt that they instead should kick one another in the shins for their stupid inhuman mistake.

In their after comments, all the judges apologised in different styles through a careful choice of words, without losing too much of their dignity.

When Susan heard the result, she was so perfectly human in her sudden emotional outburst, and when she calmed down, instead of hating the people who had ridiculed her, she hit back with a smile and the most beautifully executed Thank You gesture, even bowing at all the spectators who quickly reacted and corrected their mistake. She was really a true lady, who let her enemies escape with their mistakes, through a very wide gate. It was all a perfect example of "love thy neighbour, even though he dislikes you", or better still, show what you are worth even if your examiners do not see it because of social prejudices.

I also appreciated her move when her raised tightened fist, composed after winning her full marks to indicate supremacy and triumph, changed into a forgiving open hand, waving at her examiners who had little choice but to wholeheartedly approve her high singing talents and human understanding to those who first hated her. We must have faith in humanity after all!

Twice the Topless Exposure-Carrie Prejean

It was only a matter of time, but topless photo number 2 of Miss California Carrie Prejean has officially hit the web.

The photo, which Carrie once claimed didn't exist, has been published on TheDirty.com -- the same site which published photo number one.

The new photo looks almost exactly like the old one -- pink panties, no top -- except she's posing on the other side, there's less side boob and this time, she's not smiling.

Just days ago, Carrie sent an email to a pageant exec explaining " I shouldnt (sic) have taken the photo of me in my underwear. There are no other photos of me. This was the only one I took."

Charlize Theron loves Hanks

Actress Charlize Theron arrives for a Film Society Gala Tribute to honor actor Tom Hanks with the Chaplin Award in New York April 27, 2009. [Agencies]

Charlize Theron thinks Tom Hanks has a sexy butt.

The Oscar-winning actress - who was directed by Tom in her breakthrough movie 'That Thing You Do!' in 1996 - is impressed with the 52-year-old star's behind and can't stop gushing about it.

She said: "He has a really good a*s. A really, really good butt."

Tom - who has been married to actress Rita Wilson since 1988 - admits he is flattered with the compliment and says Charlize will now always have a special place in his heart.

He joked: "She's a dear. Any woman who compliments you're a*s is one to hold on to."

Charlize paid tribute to Tom after he was honoured by the Film Society of Lincoln Center at their annual gala tribute evening last week, saying he had been an inspiration throughout her career.

She gushed: "Besides the fact that I'm a massive fan I feel like I got interested in acting because of him and his work.

"Getting the chance to work with him and getting to know him a little bit made me realise there's something about him that is really genuine and sweet. It shows the nice guy can end up on top."From:www.chinadaily.com.cn

Adam Lambert, Allison Iraheta tops, Danny Gokey hokey::'American Idol' fashion

American Idol's fashion contest was rocked by Adam Lambert and Allison Iraheta last night, with Kris Allen dressing better than he sang but Danny Gokey making us want to cover our eyes.

Picture Elvis Presley in his thin days, maybe wearing the famous white ensemble, in that sing-your-guts-out pose, the sneer, the curled lip on his handsome face, and then hit the time machine button – oh say, like a half-century ahead and what do you got?

Adam Lambert. The popped collar of his studded jacket (eeks, was Kara wearing the same one?), the almost bare chest with chunky medallions, the graphic bell bottoms, the Elvis black hair hit with a razor – eerily similar, a modern day clone.

Sure, he did the guyliner and nail thing, but take note . . . he’s toned it down just a bit, because someone is whispering in his very good ear, “people think you’re gorgeous.” Props to the stylists for subtle silhouette that conjured the King and a big nod to the contestant who definitely earned a whole lotta love from his fans last night.

Since we mentioned the razor cut, let’s go to Allison Iraheta’s new ‘do, especially since Adam took her to his hairdresser. The choppy locks were such an improvement over her heavy red coif, and the new burgundy shade, entirely hip. Allison looked (and sounded) fine in textured leggings, a zip front, short-sleeved jacket and high heel boots all in black for her first performance. Innocuous, save for the chunky boulder around her neck but nothing to cry about.

As for the duet, Allison and Adam are the "A" team and make stellar singing partners. Allison rocked the look and the audience. Cutie pie met rocker chic in a tiny black sleeveless tunic, leggings and black combat boots perfect for stage stomping. Fab fashion and performance from her. We weren't that keen on Adam's striped, skintight jester pants, but he sure sounded great.

Sadly, Kris Allen pretty much bombed, though not in the fashion department. This guy, with his clean cut sweet face, is pure teen idol material and looked the part, particularly in his solo where he wore a dark plum colored shirt topped by an army green fatigue jacket with rolled sleeves and epaulettes. In fairness, this is his not his genre but, though he plays a mean guitar, it definitely did not come together.

For the duet, he wore a black tee embellished with a red cross, black leather jacket and football shaped necklace – nice. And despite what Simon said, we thought his performance was decent here.

Sad to say, although we are Danny Gokey fans, Gokey went hokey in his pinstriped vest, purple shirt and wool trousers. It seemed dated and out of sync with the musical category, and his performance, once again, out of his comfort zone by a long shot, seemed just as awkward – like in that cover your eyes, embarrassing way.

Dom DeLuise established himself as a comic star and comic Video

Before his death Monday at age 75, Dom DeLuise established himself as a comic star beloved by Hollywood insiders and America's TV and film fans, but he never won a major award Well, except one: a Razzie as worst supporting actress of 1986

yes, worst actress — for his drag role as Aunt Kate in the horror spoof "Haunted Honeymoon." Dom DeLuise prevailed over co-nominees Kristin Scott Thomas ("Under the Cherry Moon"), Zelda Rubinstein ("Poltergeist II: The Other Side") and Oscar champs Louise Fletcher ("Invaders from Mars") and Beatrice Straight ("Power").

He was nominated for two serious industry prizes but lost both. He was up for best TV comedy actor for appearing in the short-lived series "Lotsa Luck" (1973) as a lovable loser who works in the lost and found department of a New York City bus company. He was beat by Jack Klugman ("The Odd Couple").

Dom DeLuise was nominated for a Daytime Emmy for appearing in a TV adaptation of his hit flick "All Dogs Go to Heaven." Performing the voice of canine Itchy Itchiford, he lost the trophy for best performer in an animated program to Rob Paulsen ("Pinky and the Brain").

Ali Lohan may score a lot of perks thanks to big sis Lindsay

Ali Lohan may score a lot of perks thanks to big sis Lindsay – think nights out in Hollywood hotspots, Beverly Hills shopping sprees and the recent trip to Hawaii where the pair wore teensy bikinis and were photographed constantly.

Unfortunately, one thing the 15-year-old starlet isn't getting from Lindsay is a good role model who's making positive life choices. Experts say the sibling relationship could actually be harmful to Ali's mental health.

"If you have an older child who is breaking a lot of the rules and engaging in dangerous and risky behavior, this can have a negative impact on the younger child," said Dr. Eva Ritvo, psychiatrist and vice chair of psychiatry at the University of Miami School of Medicine.

"Adolescents are trying to break away from their family and they don't always make the best choices. They're looking for role models other than their parents, and often turn to peers and older sisters, who can have a very powerful influence on the younger child," she said.

Impressionable Ali can hardly help but notice Lindsay's partying, stints in and out of rehab, and her skin-and-bones appearance. But how she reacts to those things could go one of two directions, experts say

Some teens with out of control older sibs may copy them, while others fall into the role of trying to protect loved ones from the person. "You either try to outdo or you become a caretaker," says Dr. Keith Ablow, psychiatrist and Fox News contributor, who founded the website www.LivingtheTruth.com.

"The course Ali is taking appears to be more in the direction of copying than in shrinking from the cameras and the revelry," he said.

Besides the risk of having Ali try to emulate an older sib who's engaged in some negative behaviors, there's the danger that she's not getting enough parental attention because so much of it is focused on Lindsay.

"When you are a sister of the woman the world watches and who is seemingly more heat than light, you can get lost in the attempt to get attention," Ablow said. "It's like sibling rivalry on steroids, and to step out of that kind of energy is like stepping out of a tornado and hoping to not get chewed up as you step out of it."

Psychologist Donna LaMar said that Ali could be helped if a caring adult steps in and offers guidance, support and perspective. That person does not necessarily have to be a relative in order to be effective, she said.

"It could be a teacher or in her case, maybe someone in the business," LaMar said.

"The person could just say to her, hey what are you doing? What are you searching for and what do you need in your life right now?" What's important for those close to Ali is to not give up, LaMar said.

"It's never too late," she said. "There is always a choice to be made."

For now, Ali, who was recently spotted holding Lindsay's hand as they left West Hollywood's Chateau Marmont together, appears to be choosing Lindsay.

She's in a tough spot, acknowledged Ablow. "Trying to get what you need as a 15-year-old girl can be a tall order when your sister is very famous and very unpredictable," he said.

"A 15-year-old should not have to be in the role or either caretaker or competitor, but she should be in a comfortable place where she can become an individual, where she can look at the world with security and choose what defines her.From:www.nydailynews.com

Best and worst of 'Star Trek' movie villain

Best "Trek" movie villain

Khan (Ricardo Montalban, "Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan")

Best "Trek" movie villain? How about the best movie villain ever? Khan was strong, sexy and sympathetic, but when it came time to shove a giant mutant space maggot into Chekov's ear, he was ready to throw down. Give him credit for keeping his crew alive - and their hair looking fantastic - for years on an abandoned planet that appeared to have nothing but sand as a resource. In an industry filled with synthetic bad guys, Khan was a rich Corinthian villain.

Honorable mention: General Chang (Christopher Plummer, "Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country")

Worst "Trek" movie villain

Ad'har Ru'afo (F. Murray Abraham, "Star Trek IX: Insurrection")

Abraham is a fine villain for a Mozart biopic, but he's just not cut out for world domination. If the choice of the spindly Abraham as the film's main bad guy wasn't enough, the screenwriters gave his character a plastic surgery addiction that made him seem more pitiful than fearsome.

Honorable mention: Sybok (Laurence Luckinbill, "Star Trek V: The Final Frontier")

Most random "Trek" cameo

Christian Slater ("Star Trek VI")

Slater is a big "Star Trek" fan, and his mother was in charge of casting for the movie. So he shows up - for about six seconds - as the spaceship Excelsior night duty officer. His mission: to wake up Capt. Sulu. They don't have alarm clocks in the 23rd century?

Honorable mention: Kirstie Alley ("Star Trek II"); Kim Cattrall ("Star Trek VI")

Best "Trek" smackdown

Spock ("Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home")

"Star Trek IV" was a little too whale-heavy for some hard-core Trek fans, but we thought the Leonard Nimoy-directed movie was a lot of fun - especially the time travel plot that brought the crew to modern-day San Francisco. The most cathartic moment was on a Muni bus crossing the Golden Gate Bridge, where Nimoy's Spock puts a Vulcan sleeper hold on a punk playing his music too loud. The ovation from his fellow passengers said it all.

Most unrealistic feat of "Trek"-related athleticism

William Shatner

("Star Trek V")

By the time "Star Trek V" came around, William Shatner looked as if he might have had a hard time climbing up a flight of stairs. But that didn't stop the screenwriters from giving him an extended scene climbing El Capitan. In their defense, it was the best scene in this horrible film. And he did fall off. But a slow hike up Bridal Veil falls would have been more his speed. ("Star Trek V" also gets worst "Trek"-related body double award.)

Otherwise decent "Trek" movie most in need of a 25-minute trim

"Star Trek: The Motion Picture"

The first "Star Trek" film might have been one of the best - if it wasn't so long. The effects scenes were the most draggy parts. "The Sound of Music" director Robert Wise was so enamored with the newfangled visuals, he let several of the kaleidoscope-like space scenes linger for what seemed like half a light-year. (That transporter deformation scene was cool, though.)

Best "Trek" movie

"Star Trek II"

This one's not even close. The story, action, pacing and acting were all the best of the series. Spock's "death" scene was arguably the most moving moment in the "Trek" canon. People remember Khan's maybe-fake-maybe-not chest and Shatner's exaggerated cry of "Khaaaaaaan!" and mistake this for pure camp. Watch it again. It's a really good movie.

Worst "Trek" movie

"Star Trek VII: Generations"

Other movies (cough, "Star Trek V," cough) were more horrible from a filmmaking standpoint, but this one had the most on the line. If you're going to write the last chapter for a character as great as Capt. Kirk, you better not botch it. And this movie completely botched it. More than the other forgettably bad pictures, this one did the most to harm the franchise.

King of Hunks:The McConaughey Mystery

The obligatory Matthew McConaughey scene — as crucial to his fans as a Miley Cyrus song or a Seth Rogen penis joke is to theirs — is the ritual removing of his shirt, to reveal a torso that could have been sculpted, or certainly caressed, by Michelangelo. The gesture is not so much an act of narcissism as a votive offering to his core constituency. A showman as much as an actor, McConaughey is ready to give the people what they want; and abs make their hearts grow fonder. (TIME Ponders: The Making of Matthew)

It is a failure, though not the central one, of Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, which opened yesterday to largely libelous reviews, that the star stays dressed for nearly the first hour. In this update of A Christmas Carol (drably directed by Mean Girls' Mark Waters, written by the guys who did last winter's insufferable holiday comedy Four Christmases), McConaughey plays Connor Mead, a glamour photographer with an eye for philandering. After breaking up with three girls "in bulk," over a video conference call, he goes to his brother's wedding weekend, re-wounding his old inamorata (Jennifer Garner) while causing about as much domestic havoc as Anne Hathaway did in Rachel Getting Married, and with the same low entertainment payoff. This alpha dog is a baaad Connor; Scrooge-like, he must be visited by three spirits who will show him the error of his ways...

...which are the very sins of flirtation and desertion McConaughey has displayed in the movies that made him famous: How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days and Fool's Gold, both with Kate Hudson; The Wedding Planner, with Jennifer Lopez; Failure to Launch, with Sarah Jessica Parker. These fluffy films earned no awards, no critics' raves — nothing but healthy box-office numbers; How to Lose a Guy broke $100 million domestic. So somebody must love McConaughey. In Ghosts, one woman says of him, "He's all surface," and another observes, "But a really hot surface." That surface has made McConaughey, 39, the monarch of a tiny, neglected kingdom: the romantic comedy.

In this realm there are no pretenders; for this is a movie age when the all-male bro-mance is like the Soviet Union of genres (action-adventure being the U.S. of A.). Given the dominant zeitgeist, few actors would be caught dead trying to appeal to women. McConaughey not only consents, he does it with a cheerful grace, as if he actually enjoys appearing in crappy films that lure the ladies. When Ghosts of Girlfriends Past opened last night — earning a decent $6 million, but nowhere near X-Men Origins: Wolverine's $35 million — it performed best among Females Over 25. In that demographic, McConaughey ranks high, up there with Pilates, Jodi Picoult novels and The View.

They used to be known as date movies, but only women would use that designation now; for guys they're more like bondage, and not the fun kind. The average guy hates or dismisses McConaughey movies because they'll require him to sit with his girlfriend through 100 minutes of extreme rendition, then endure her reproach that he's not nearly so cute, buff or romantically attentive as the hunk on screen. Men hate a ladies' man, a species of which McConaughey may be the last, best example. He speaks in silkily modulated tones, carries himself with a lithe sexual assurance and, at the end of movies where he's played the restless tiger, gives big emotional speeches about the need for two people to be one. "Lock him up!" guys say.

But enough women reply, "Strap him on!" to make McConaughey veneration a niche industry. Every Matt fan knows MMcC's M.O.: dated Ashley Judd, Sandra Bullock and Penelope Cruz; has a 10-month-old son by his Brazilian girlfriend Camila Alves; was questioned by the police for playing bongo drums in the nude; rescued pets after Hurricane Katrina; was named People's Sexiest Man Alive in 2005 and one of the magazine's Hottest Bachelors a year later; serves as spokesman for the beef industry ("Beef: It's What's for Dinner"); runs a clothing line, and a children's foundation, called j.k. livin, after his life motto "Just keep livin'"; and doesn't use deodorant or cologne — but we'll bet he could market his musk.

"The older you do get," he said in his breakout movie, the 1993 indie comedy Dazed and Confused, "the more rules they're gonna try to get you to follow. You just gotta keep livin' man, L-I-V-I-N." That edict has nurtured McConaughey from his early prominence, in the John Grisham drama A Time to Kill, through some ragged adventure sagas (the arid Sahara) to a welcome cameo as Ben Stiller's agent in Tropic Thunder. As McConaughey scholar (and my niece) Diana White tells me, he's more than the sum of dimples and muscles. But anybody can be an actor; it's tough to be an icon. McConaughey sustains his status by bantering effortlessly with Jay Leno, spoofing himself in a Sex & the City episode and, in general, hammering home the impression that the genial fellow we see in movies is close to the down-home Texan he may well be.From:www.time.com/time/

Britney Spears has requested a stripper pole

Britney Spears has requested a stripper pole be installed in Britney Spears hotel room.

The 'Toxic' singer - who is a huge fan of pole dancing as it helps maintain her new slender figure - made the unusual request to staff at London's Dorchester Hotel, where she will be staying when she performs at the city's O2 arena in June as part of the UK leg of her 'Circus' tour.

A source said: "Britney loves pole dancing, it is her new favourite work out. She gets the toning she needs without having to hit the gym and wants to do it in the privacy of her own hotel room.

"Keeping fit on tour is very important as her show involves lots of rigorous dance routines, so Britney likes to do her pole dancing workout first thing in the morning."

The mother-of-two has also requested the hotel provide a chef from restaurant chain Nando's to be on hand to cook her spicy chicken whenever she feels like it.

Britney's request comes just days after Russell Brand asked for a private pole.

The British comic star - who once gave Britney sex tips - is set to stay at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino when shooting starts on movie 'Get Him to the Greek' in Las Vegas.

Russell has requested the famous Apex suite, known as the "ultimate bachelor pad", and has its own stripper pole.From:www.chinadaily.com.cn

'No Surprise' on next Wednesday's 'American Idol'

Prepare yourselves: Daughtry, the modern-rock band fronted by American Idol alum and all-around nice guy Chris Daughtry, will perform a brand-new single called "No Surprise" on next Wednesday's episode of the show that made their singer famous. "No Surprise," which does not appear to be a Radiohead cover (probably ultimately a good thing), will appear on Daughtry's as-yet-untitled second album, due July 14. Anyone looking forward to hearing the first official follow-up to Daughtry's megasmash 2006 debut?
